Shipping Policy
At Martyns Cycles, we offer shipping on selected items only within New Zealand.
Items available for shipping
- Accessories
- Toys and models
- Clothing
- Parts
- General merchandise
Processing and delivery
- Orders are typically dispatched within 2 business days of payment clearing.
- Delivery is via courier to physical addresses. We do not ship to PO Boxes.
- Estimated delivery is 5 business days after dispatch for most urban areas. No rural deliveries currently.
- If an item is out of stock, we will contact you with options (wait, substitute, or refund).
Pick up in store only
The following are not available for shipping and must be collected in store:
- All bikes
- Dangerous goods (e.g. certain batteries, aerosols, fuels — as labelled)
- Bulky items (as indicated on the product page)
We will notify you by email when your order is ready. Please bring photo ID and your order confirmation. Orders not collected within 14 days may be cancelled and refunded less any restocking fee where applicable.
Delivery issues
If your order is lost, damaged in transit, or significantly late, contact us promptly. We will work with the courier and, where appropriate, offer a replacement or refund in line with New Zealand consumer law.
If you provide an incorrect shipping address, we are not responsible for loss or delay until the matter is resolved with the courier (additional shipping charges may apply).
Risk in the goods passes to you when they are delivered to your address (or when you collect in store).
Returns Policy
Your rights under New Zealand law
Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986.
If goods are faulty, not of acceptable quality, not fit for purpose, or not as described, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund for a reasonable time after purchase. These rights are separate from our voluntary change-of-mind policy below.
Change of mind returns (voluntary)
If you change your mind about an online purchase, you may return eligible items at your own cost within 30 days of receiving the goods.
Eligible items must:
- Be unused and in original condition
- Include original packaging and tags
- Be accompanied by proof of purchase
Not eligible for change-of-mind returns:
- Bikes (unless otherwise agreed in writing)
- Custom or special-order items
- Clearance / final sale items (where marked at purchase)
- Hygiene-related items once opened (e.g. helmets, gloves, worn clothing)
- Items that have been installed, used, or altered
Refunds are processed to your original payment method within [5–10] business days after we receive and approve the return. We may offer store credit by agreement.
Damaged, faulty, or incorrect items
If your item arrives damaged, faulty, or incorrect, contact us as soon as possible at email us with your order number and photos of the issue and packaging.
We will:
- Assess the problem
- Arrange a return courier label where appropriate (at our cost if the item is faulty or our error)
- Offer a repair, replacement, or refund in accordance with the Consumer Guarantees Act
Please do not dispose of faulty goods until we have confirmed next steps, where possible.
How to return an item
- Contact us at info@martynscycles.co.nz with your order number and reason for return.
- Wait for return authorisation and instructions (if required).
- Pack items securely in original packaging where possible.
- Send to: 51 Thames Street, Oamaru (or return in store during opening hours).
We are not responsible for returns lost in transit when sent by the customer unless tracked shipping is used as we advise.
